I loved the time that I spent at Mariposa, it felt like my little sanctuary where I could take a break from my busy life and focus on my growing family. I greatly appreciated the amount of time the midwives spent with me at each appointment, I never felt rushed and always had all my concerns addressed in depth. When my baby was refusing to flip head down, we came up with a plan (and back-up plan) and worked through it together. I felt incredibly supported throughout my pregnancy, during the birth, and especially postpartum (they come to your house for the first couple postpartum visits, which is a godsend).

“I began seeing Leah at the birth center when I was 15 weeks pregnant. After seeing obgyns who would only spend about 15 minutes with me, it was so refreshing to spend a whole hour plus with someone who really took the time to listen. I truly looked forward to each appointment. Walking into the birth center felt like entering my second home. It’s such a welcoming, peaceful space.

Halfway through my pregnancy I had the pleasure of meeting Summer, a passionate, sweet midwife who compliments Leah’s midwifery skills perfectly. Summer was with me when I broke down crying after finding out I could no longer give birth safely at the birth center due to preeclampsia. I’ll never forget the soothing embrace she gave during such a vulnerable time.

I was absolutely devastated that I would not be able to give birth as planned at the beautiful birth center. However, Leah and Summer’s careful monitoring and support allowed me to give birth safely and with ease at the hospital. Summer was able to come and step in as my doula during this time at the hospital, which was such a blessing.

These two are the midwife dream team! They truly care about you and are with you each step of the way throughout pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum. I will miss my time spent at the birth center so much. I couldn’t imagine not having them by my side during this raw transition into motherhood!”

“We are so grateful life put Leah and Summer on our path. We moved to the area at the beginning of my 3rd trimester. We were anxious to find the right choice for our birth care. We met with Summer, spent more than an hour exchanging and when we left the only things that bothered me were: “is it too good to be true?” And: “can I do it?”. Mathieu knew it was the right fit right away. He was just waiting for me to believe in myself.

We can say it IS true, such a personal care exists, and it even went above and beyond what we could have dreamt of. For once, we have professional and knowledgeable persons in front of us with whom we can talk person to person. On top of that, Leah and Summer are incredible human beings. We trusted them 100%. Such a relief to focus on this incredible journey.

On the birth day, Leah and Summer were with us, helping us navigate the various ups and downs of our 24 hours plus labor. We were a team. We are so glad our baby came into this side of the world to the hands of such caring and loving women.

And it doesn’t stop here. Our postpartum would have been way more difficult without their care (and their, what we called, Mary Poppins bag). They have whatever you didn’t even know you needed.
